Cedar ‘Fins’

From Morgans Valley, the last architectural house I built in New Zealand before recently relocating back to Cornwall.
Another excellent feature I had to build was this Cedar ‘Fin’ feature which separated the study and the kitchen area. This consisted of six Cedar ‘fins’ bolted through each other to the wall with black powder coated m20 threaded rod and nuts/washers. The first ‘fin’ that joined onto the end of the wall was rebated around the wall so that when the timber inevitably moves around over time, you won’t end up with unsightly gaps forming between it and the wall. In my opinion, it’s little details like this that make the difference.
